Busy Week 9!

We have such a busy week happening at school this week. Tuesday is the visit to Kerrs Bush and Thursday is Room 6 & 7's Surf Life Saving Day at Oreti Beach.

In class we are finishing off our presentations of our Solar System learning. We have everything from posters, brochures, information wheels to keynotes.

For homework this week everyone is practising their speeches and working on presenting this with clear and precise voices. It was great to listen to Gerry Forde today and see what makes a great public speaker. We will also be practising these in class with the use of the microphone.

Don't forget your appropriate footwear tomorrow and warm clothes...just in case!

Summer Poem

Sand flying everywhere like a tornado

Ultra hot burning sun

Mouth watering melons

Mmm nice ice-creams

Even heat waves

Really really warm weather

By Gabby

Summer Poem!

Spilling water on my head.
Under the water the sea bed awaits.
Marshmallows cooking over the fire.
Meet with friends at the movies.
Every boy and girl eats ice cream and get brain freeze.
Rippling cold water.

Summer Poem!

Sunshine out, everyone playing
Unbelievable weather
Mum's lying under the palm tree trying to get away from the sun
Massive boiling sun covering the whole of Invercargill
Enough sunlight to make you blind
Really exhausting, can't wait to get into the pool.

by Jack W

Summer Poem!

So hot that it burns,
Underneath umbrellas keeping shade from our bodies,
More and more hotness,
More kids wearing sun screen,
Enough already, its too hot,
Ruby red faces, I have got sun burnt.

summer poem!

Summer Poems

Sunshine out, everyone playing

Under the beech tree in the shade

Mmm, ice creams are the best in summer

Mum tells us we're going to the outdoor pool "hooray"

Everyone laughing and enjoying themselves

Running round randomly or playing sports

Summer Poem

Summer is here, let's have some fun
Unicons flying in the sky
Magnificent sun
More colours in the sky
Everyone having fun
Rhinoceros lying on the ground, can't be bothered to move

Summer Poem

Songs of the beautiful birds flow through our ears.

Unexpectedly the sun rose and gave out amazing heat.

Magnificent lovely bright flowers have bloomed.

Marvelous bright sun shines through the green leafy trees.

Eager to play outside in the hot shiny sun.

Radioactive the sun is, as it gives out an amazing amount of energy.

Summer Poem

Spring has just gone past

Unbelievable sun comes out

Magnificent bird songs all around

Marvelous flowers have bloomed

Extra play time at the beach

Ready to play in the sun
Make sure you check out the Space Websites that we have added. There are some really interesting facts and activities for you to check out!
People running around madly
Eating the yummiest food
Today was a cool day

Day goes fast like a ferrari on a race track
An awesome bouncy castle
Your dog is barking its heart out

By Liam

Bella

Big black puppy
Every time I go near her she leaps onto me
Loves to eat beef bones, dog nuts and pigs ears
Lovely shiny coat after she has eaten an egg
A champion runner in races.

Snow Day

Some children took beautiful photos of the snow at school today. Hopefully we will get a chance to take more through the week.
In class this week Room 7 have created Earthquake posters to inform people of what to do in that situation. Our thoughts are going out to all Canterbury residents at this time. Please check out our Earthquake Website which has all the information on what to do if an earthquake strikes. We will be sending home an emergency plan today for you to fill out with your family. This can be done together so everyone in your household knows what to do.

Production!!!

I was so proud of all Room 7 children last night at the Production. You all looked fantastic and your dance moves were outstanding! I am just watching the dvd now...Wow! A massive well done to Room 8 children who wrote the script and made the whole night run smoothly. So Proud :-)

Mathletics Fever!!!

WOW! It was so great hearing the buzz this morning in class about the Mathletics website. If you are able to get online at home keep challenging yourself. Remember to tell me in the morning if you need extra time in class if you couldn't get in at home. We are trialling it for a week to see how it goes.

Brain Pictures

Thank you so much Nigel and Liz King for bringing 2 lamb brains to Room 7 for us to dissect. We all had a fantastic time exploring and seeing what a real brain was like. We will be uploading photos, video and our experiences and from our day later today.
Moffett Cup was great even though we didn’t get one goal out of the whole Moffett Cup. We still had fun games. A big thank you to Mrs Fraser for coaching us on the day. All of my team had a great time and if it wasn’t for Mrs Fraser we wouldn’t of had a such a great time!

Gabby's Moffett Cup

SHE SHOOTS, SHE SCORES AGAIN. Man Nicole was a great shoot. Our team did really well, 16 goals out of all the games we played at Moffett Cup. We couldn’t of done it without our assistant coaches, which were Nicole's Mummy and Daddy. Thanks so much to the rest of the parents for all your support.
By Gabby Schuck.Bye!
I loved Moffett Cup because we had a awesome coach, Mrs Smith, even though we only got one goal out of all the games. We still did very well, next year I hope I do better. I had a great time. Thanks for reading about my great time at Moffett Cup, bye!

Classroom Survey

The survey is now up and going finally. Sorry to all those who have been looking for it. We had some technical difficulties!
Sean and Simone helped put some new sites on our Blog. Check out the Multiplication Games and the Brain website that has all the Multiple Intelligence activities. Check them out and let us know what you think of them.

Message From Mrs L

Thank you all for the wonderful shared lunch today. It was a great way to celebrate all the hard work you have done over the term. Have a great holiday everyone! I look forward to seeing you all in 2 weeks :-)
Well done to everyone who took part in the Southern Zone Music Festival. What an awesome night at the Civic Theatre! You all did yourself and Myross Bush School proud ;-)
One day a ballerina decided to go to Stadium Southland.
So she did. When she got there she saw a soccer ball so she started playing with it, until Mario came in with a Rail Laser Gun. Mario was so excited because he wanted to freeze the ballerina with the special gun. Suddenly the ballerina turned into a Vampire Bat ahhhhh!!! Mario was so freaked out he started running. Once Mario got out Stadium Southland the bat turned into a steaming mad White Rhino.

Mario rung the zoo and they came to capture the rhino. They took the rhino to they zoo and put it in the rhino cage. Guess who was in the truck…Luigi! Mario said “Thanks bro”.

When it was night time and no zoo guards were around, Mario and Luigi poked the rhino with a mini electric bug and it didn’t fell a thing.
Last Saturday the Prime Minister was very worried because it was very hot in Tranilaen and the last bottle of powerade was empty. The Prime Minister had to go to the Dark Museum to find some more, but he got lost in the darkest part, the Egyptian Display. He didn’t come back.

Mean while back in Tranilaen the two Vice Prime Ministers were fighting over who would be the new Prime Minister. But when the ghost of the old Prime Minister came back it scared the living daylights out of them. They ran, and ran till no one saw them again.

A year later the town started to crumble and everybody turned into ghosts and they renamed the town “Ghost Town”. Everybody lived happily ever after... opps I meant everyghost lived happily ever after.
All the trees swirled and whirled. The demons twisted and winded together. The howling sounded like the wind travelling through a spooky, dark graveyard. As I entered the haunted hospital the phone rang. “Ring, ring bring”. The noise echoed down the hall. “Ring, ring, bring”. I hurried to the phone but… as I scurried down the hallway I heard foot steps…it was…only me.

I was a NCIS American Police Woman. I picked up the old fashion phone. All I heard was the wind rustling and howling. Howl howl. I heard water dripping on the concrete, tip, tip, drip, drip, ssww ssww. I felt a faint whisper and a finger running down my spin. Was it me or was it the criminals? Blood came dripping and running out of the roof. Ruby, red, rich blood. Suddenly the alarm went, someone had stolen the ipod(touch). Its going to be a murderous night. Police have a very busy job don’t they.!?
On Christmas day we watched the ballerina contest at Splash Palace. The ballerina that we watched was good at swimming but bad at dancing. Suddenly the rest of the crowed started whispering. The ballerina started dancing on a soccer ball in the water! She then slipped and fell into the water and walked along the bottom of the pool to a spring box. The ballerina stood on it and bounced up to the roof and then fell down to the bottom of the pool again. She dug underground so that there was less impact. When she came back up she was standing underneath an anvil and a saw. Suddenly the anvil fell down and squashed the ballerina, then the saw fell down and cut the anvil. The ballerina then got back on the ball and finished her dance. She also got first prize. The prize was the anvil that she got squashed with!
I was walking in the library last Saturday. It was my first week as a Prime Minister. I saw a blue light under a shelf. I ripped it out of the shelf. It was an ipod. Suddenly five black ninjas came in every window. Whoosh… a bright light flashed! A wizard had come and was now making ninjas disappear into thin air.

When all the ninjas were gone he told me to keep the ipod safe or they will come back later with their trackers. When he left I put it in my pocket to be safe and went out of the library back home. I hid the ipod in a cupboard and locked it. By that time it was bedtime. In my sleep I heard banging... it was the ipod coming to life. I heard the door opening. It was the ninjas! Their back to get the ipod.

I grabbed the ipod and jumped out the window before the ninja could catch me. That was close…now where do I go???
5,4,3,2,1, BLAST OFF ‘’Yang you do know that It’s only your video game’’ said Yin. Suddenly the phone rang, Yin and Yang both raced for it. Master Yo got it. He put it on speaker phone ‘’Calling any two volunteers to go to the moon and Defeat Carl-the-evil-cockroach-wizard with only a bottle of Powerade to survive’’ said a random dude on the phone. ‘’Yang are you thinking what I’m thinking’’ thought Yin. ‘’Yes ah what is it’’ replied Yang ‘’We’ve beat him thousands of times’’ ‘’ Ok’’ uttered Yang.

So they looked all around town for the place to take off and weirdly the last place they looked was the dojo and the ship is the wufu battle cruiser. ‘’Master Yo you rang? But you answered it ‘’ ‘’Wufu Dumb Dumb’’ ‘‘Right go you guys the planet is in Jeopardy’’ Yelled Master Yo. ‘‘5,4,3,2,1 BLAST OFF now it’s real’’ gasped Yin. ‘’Lights on, maximum thrusters, on shrink ray, get ready… SHRINK RAY GO!!!!” yelled Yang. ‘’You are now out of Orbit’ said the ship Robotically ‘’You are 5,00,00,000,000,0000000000,0,00, miles away from the moon”’ said the ship again ‘’lets go light speed’ yelled Yang

‘’Yang’’ shrieked Yin ‘’You are now 1 metre away from the moon.” So they got their space suits on and jumped on the moon and saw Carl-the-evil-cockroach-wizard and he was in Stadium Southland. Yin yelled ‘’YINCINARAY’’ then Yang yelled “YANGARANG” and threw it at Carl-the-evil-cockroach-wizard and killed him.
We have created bizarre and crazy stories in the last week. We were given random characters, objects, ,actions, places and times that had to be included in our story. As we publish them in class they will be posted on our Blog. For homework you are to comment on at least 3 people's story, if it is easy to read, does it make sense and have we used interesting language.
My pink private jet landed as I jumped out and breathed in the fresh air. As my pink tutu puffed up I twirled into Stadium Southland. The big breakfast table was set with place names. I squinted carefully. I saw a place name and it said ‘The Queen.’ “The Queen is coming!” I squealed, I jumped for joy! I sat at my place name right beside the Queen.

The Queen and Wendy Frew arrived at last. But it turned out the Queen wasn’t the Royal Queen, it was the Queen of Farts!!! Wendy Frew and I asked if we could sit at the other end of the table, the answer we got was “NO!” Anyway we sat down for breakfast.

I got a book called “The Book Of Ballet” I looked inside, out fell a yellow treasure map, I picked it up and looked at it carefully, it started in the velodrome.

So after some delicious pancakes with berries and golden syrup on top, I ran to the freezing cold velodrome. It felt like ice straight from the freezer, but I didn’t care because I was too excited about the treasure.

The treasure map had an arrow to climb up the biking track, over the seats and behind them was a purple stained window. The arrows pointed out it so I jumped out the window then it told me to follow the walls left around the building until I saw a big red X.

I started digging. I saw a sack. I yanked it out and ran inside yelling “I found it,” “What?” they all asked “the treasure” I replied “wow!” they answered back.

I opened it up and it wasn’t treasure it was SHEEP POO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I saw something that looked a bit like money, it was. It was $20,000 YAY!!!! I screamed.
